Maua Talanta Studio Crowned Eastern Region Tujiamini Gold Winners

Maua Talanta Studio, a vibrant collective of musicians, producers, DJs, comedians, and content creators from Maua Town, has emerged as the Eastern Region Gold Award winners in SportPesa’s Tujiamini initiative, walking away with a transformative Ksh 1 million grant.

This milestone highlights not only the studio’s resilience and creativity but also SportPesa’s commitment to empowering communities and supporting grassroots youth talent across Kenya.Founded in 2017, Maua Talanta Studio was born out of the vision to give local creatives access to quality production services, eliminating the need to travel over 60 kilometers to Meru Town or Nairobi. Despite registering officially as a Self-Help Group in 2018, the team struggled with limited equipment, studio space, and financial resources. But their determination remained unshaken. When the Tujiamini initiative was announced, they took a chance and shared their story.

Their journey of resilience and hope struck a chord — earning them the coveted Gold Award.With the grant, the studio has transformed into a fully equipped creative hub. They have acquired modern band equipment, a professional video camera, a drone, streaming tools, DJ academy gear, and a complete sound system. Today, Maua Talanta is attracting artists from as far as Samburu and Marsabit, as well as schools integrating Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) that seek real-world creative learning opportunities for students.

“This award was a game-changer for us. It gave us the tools, confidence, and credibility to grow. It’s proof that grassroots talent matters — and when supported, it can thrive,” said Frankline, the Maua Talanta Studio spokesperson.

Speaking on behalf of SportPesa, Tujiamini representative Debbie Maina emphasized the initiative’s wider impact.

“At SportPesa, we believe in empowering communities through Tujiamini. Maua Talanta’s story is a powerful example of how opportunity can unlock potential and create lasting impact,” she said.

Tujiamini, a Ksh 30 million annual program, continues to make waves across the country by supporting talents, sports, and community projects. Through its Gold Award category, community-based groups like Maua Talanta gain the platform and resources to expand their impact.
