As the global race toward digitalization intensifies—with over 170 countries rolling out national digital strategies and more than 60 governments adopting AI policies—Huawei Cloud is positioning itself as a key enabler for Africa. Drawing from its global expertise and advanced technologies, the company is introducing cutting-edge solutions tailored for Kenya, aimed at unlocking business value and sparking innovation across industries.
Opening the forum, Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Kenya, stressed that Kenya cannot afford to wait.
“The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now,” he said.
“Huawei Cloud is proud to have been in Kenya for 27 years. We are here to build a better Kenya and a smarter, more connected future together. Our goal is to become a one-stop shop for software development, offering the tools, platforms, and expertise needed to power Kenya’s digital economy.”Shi outlined Huawei Cloud’s long-term strategy of moving from cloud-native to AI-native architecture, embedding intelligence into every layer of the cloud.
This approach is already gaining traction globally as enterprises embrace “Cloud for AI and AI for Cloud” models—frameworks that promise to transform how services are designed, delivered, and scaled.Throughout the day, Huawei Cloud experts and industry leaders shared insights into how these technologies are being applied in real-world scenarios.
Timothy Oriedo, CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, highlighted how Big Data, AI, and DevOps are redefining industries such as fintech, agriculture, and logistics in Kenya. He presented a roadmap for turning raw data into actionable insights and measurable business outcomes. One of the day’s major highlights was the introduction of CodeArts, Huawei’s all-in-one DevOps platform.
Presented by Rex Xiao, Vice President of the PaaS Product Department, CodeArts integrates 28 tools into a single environment to streamline development, boost security, and enable intelligent automation. Xiao emphasized that the platform is designed to increase efficiency, enhance security standards, and maximize software productivity for developers and enterprises alike.

Kenya’s private sector leaders echoed the importance of building secure and agile systems. Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer of FinSense Africa, underscored how DevSecOps practices—such as one-click deployment, root cause analysis, and security by design—are essential for business agility and innovation. He credited Huawei Cloud for supporting local firms in embedding these practices into their digital strategies.Real-world success stories further illustrated the potential of Huawei Cloud’s solutions.
Anthony Miano, Senior Solution Architect, shared how a leading internet company in the Philippines achieved a tenfold increase in research and development efficiency after adopting CodeArts and consolidating fragmented workflows.
On the data front, David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics at Huawei Cloud, introduced the concept of Lakehouse architecture—a unified system that merges the scalability of data lakes with the reliability of data warehouses. He explained that this approach enables organizations to integrate real-time analytics and build trustworthy AI models, turning data into a strategic asset for business growth.
The event closed with a live demo led by Kevin Kipruto, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, who showcased a web-based e-commerce application. The demonstration illustrated how Huawei Cloud’s DevSecOps tools ensure faster software delivery without compromising on performance or security, thanks to features like automated testing and real-time monitoring.
Looking ahead, Huawei Cloud pledged to deepen its collaboration with Kenyan enterprises, developers, and institutions. Beyond providing technology, the company aims to build ecosystems, nurture local talent, and co-create solutions that drive inclusive growth.
Frank Shi concluded the event on an optimistic note:
“We are not just providing technology. We are building ecosystems, nurturing talent, and co-creating solutions. Together with our partners, we will continue to build a smarter, more inclusive, and more intelligent future for Kenya and Africa.”
