Nairobi Kenya
In Summary
- flydubai launches four-times-weekly flights to Nairobi, expanding its Kenyan network to two destinations including Mombasa.
- The new route enhances connectivity between the UAE and Kenya, bringing flydubai’s African network to 12 destinations across eight countries.
- The move strengthens Nairobi’s position as a regional business and tourism hub while deepening trade and travel ties between East Africa and the Gulf region.
Dubai-based carrier flydubai has officially launched direct flights to Nairobi, marking a major milestone in its African expansion strategy. The airline’s inaugural flight touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) on 16 October 2025, greeted by a traditional water cannon salute and senior representatives from the Kenya Tourism Board, the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), and the Kenya Airports Authority.
The new four-times-weekly service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Nairobi strengthens air connectivity between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kenya, offering more travel options for business, leisure, and trade passengers. The addition of Nairobi also brings flydubai’s operations in Kenya to two key destinations, alongside Mombasa, where the airline recently increased flights to a daily service.
“The launch of our four-times-weekly service to Nairobi reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing connectivity for our customers from the UAE, Kenya and beyond,” said Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa and South Asia) at flydubai.
“Kenya remains an important destination for flydubai and with 11 weekly flights, we are excited to welcome more passengers on board to experience a convenient and comfortable travel journey.”
Sreedharan also extended appreciation to the Government of Kenya, the City of Nairobi, and travel partners for their support, emphasizing the airline’s confidence in the long-term growth of the route.
Boosting Trade, Tourism, and Regional Links
The new Dubai–Nairobi route is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening economic and tourism ties between the UAE and Kenya. As a gateway to East Africa’s dynamic markets, Nairobi’s inclusion in flydubai’s network aligns with the airline’s broader vision to link emerging economies with the Middle East’s global trade and aviation hub.
Nairobi, known for its blend of modern urban life and natural attractions such as the Nairobi National Park and Giraffe Centre, remains one of Africa’s most visited capitals. Its growing importance as a financial and logistics center makes it a natural choice for airlines seeking to tap into East Africa’s fast-rising middle class and expanding trade flows.

A Growing African Network
With the addition of Nairobi, flydubai now serves 12 destinations across Africa, including Alexandria, Addis Ababa, Al Alamein (seasonal), Asmara, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Mombasa, and Zanzibar. The expansion underscores flydubai’s growing role in connecting underserved markets with Dubai’s global aviation hub.
As competition in the African aviation space intensifies, flydubai’s investment in the region signals confidence in Africa’s long-term growth trajectory; driven by rising tourism, trade, and a young, mobile population seeking better connectivity to the world.
The Nairobi route is not just another flight—it’s a bridge between two economic powerhouses, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a global crossroads and Kenya’s as a leading East African hub.
