Caetano Kenya unveils Chery to the Kenyan market this week, marking the beginning of a quiet revolution in the country’s automotive landscape. The debut of Chery’s Tiggo lineup; comprising the Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro Max—signaled a deliberate merging of global innovation and local ambition. Each model is crafted to bring accessible luxury, intelligent features, and dynamic performance to Kenya’s growing class of discerning drivers.

“Today marks an exciting new chapter for mobility in Kenya,” said Aurelien Glay, Managing Director of Caetano Kenya.

“Our partnership with Chery represents a bold commitment to Kenya’s industrial future.”

That commitment includes a landmark pledge to begin local assembly of Chery vehicles in 2026. “Built in Kenya, for Kenya,” Glay added, “this initiative will create jobs, transfer skills, and accelerate industrial growth.”

From the compact yet feature-rich Tiggo 4 Pro to the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro Max—a 7-seater engineered for both executives and families.Chery’s range is claimed to include intelligent voice control, full-360° cameras and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. A seven-year, 200,000 km warranty underpins this confidence, placing Caetano among the most trusted dealers in Kenya’s increasingly competitive SUV segment.

Zheng Songzhi, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery International Marketing Center, delivers a speech

Chery’s expansion into Africa is part of a larger global story that began long before this Nairobi debut. At the 2025 Chery Brand Night in Wuhu, China, Zheng Songzhi, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery International Marketing Center, unveiled what could redefine modern mobility: the world’s first 7-Seat Transformable Multi-SUV.

“Real user insights drive us to keep breaking new ground,” he said

emphasizing Chery’s shift from function-oriented engineering to scenario-oriented innovation. This new concept—offering six flexible configurations from family SUV to double-cab pickup—reflects the company’s commitment to co-create vehicles with real users’ needs at heart.

The introduction of Chery in Kenya is therefore not just a business move; it is the extension of a global philosophy that blends design excellence with human insight. Chery’s entry also underscores China’s evolution from mass production to world-class automotive engineering, now reaching African roads through local partners like Caetano. With over 13 million customers in 80 countries and the distinction of being China’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for 21 consecutive years, Chery’s entry into Kenya brings more than cars—it brings a vision of shared progress and mobility empowerment.

For Kenya’s automotive sector, still in the early stages of industrialization, the promise of local assembly and technological transfer offers a glimpse into a sustainable future—where vehicles are not only imported but built and innovated on home soil. The road ahead may be long, but with Chery’s global innovation meeting Caetano’s local expertise, Kenya’s journey toward intelligent mobility has already begun.
